MainStreet Theatre Company is a professional company employing members of Actor's Equity Association. In addition to our website, Audition notices will be posted on the Actor's Equity website, in Backstage, and on Actors Access/Breakdown Express. Auditions are held approximately 6-8 weeks prior to the first rehearsal of each show.
Each show will have one "Open Call" - an Equity Principal Audition (EPA), with an additional day or days of appointments by invitation only. Open calls are held in the Los Angeles area. The appointments are held at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. Call-back days will be listed when the notices are sent out.
We do not hold any separate non-union calls. Non-Union actors may come to the EPA and submit for roles if they are qualified. Submitting a headshot does not guarantee an appointment. All actors must be over 18 and be able to attend daytime rehearsals and performances. If a non-union actor is cast in a show (with the permission of AEA), they will receive pay.
Our productions use the Equity TYA agreement, and rehearsals are held 6 days a week for 40 hours per week. Shows receive 2 to 3 weeks of rehearsal including tech rehearsals. Rehearsal schedules for the shows will be made available during the audition process.
All performances are during the day: Weekday mornings for school groups, and weekend matinees for families, averaging a total of 9 performances per week.
