PHASE I: The Initial Audition

Audition: Thursday, February 18, 2010 - Victoria Gardens Cultural Center
Deadline: Monday, February 15, 2010 (5:00 pm)

Audition: Monday, March 22, 2010 - Victoria Gardens Cultural Center
Deadline: Wednesday, March 17, 2010 (5:00 pm)

PHASE II: The Semi-Finalists - On Stage

On Wednesday, April 21, 2010, semi-finalists present their acts.

PHASE III: Finalists - Live Stage Concert

On Friday, May 28, 2010, Together with a director, the top ten acts will form a show (with possible new material requested) to perform at the Lewis Family Playhouse. All talent showcased in the final performance will be awarded gifts and prizes to be determined. (Members of stage unions are considered professional and therefore ineligible to perform.)

Submission of application form and requirements does not ensure acceptance. The City of Rancho Cucamonga Talent Showcase committee approval is required. Failure to follow the entry instructions is cause for disqualification of the entry. Contestants will be notified by phone of audition time and date.

The City of Rancho Cucamonga Talent Showcase committee reserves the right to disqualify any contestant in any point of the contest who does not conform to the rules and regulations listed below.

Eligibility: Entries will be accepted in the following areas: Vocal, Instrumental, Dance and Novelty. A contestant may perform in one solo act and one group act. Please submit one application for each act. All applicants must be 10 years or older. Rancho Cucamonga residents will be scheduled first for auditions, and then residents of Upland, Fontana and Ontario will be scheduled for any remaining audition appointments.

Not Eligible to Enter: Employees and immediate family members of the City of Rancho Cucamonga are ineligible to compete in the showcase. Professional entertainers are not eligible to perform.

Application Requirements (mail in large envelope)

1. Application form neatly completed
2. Photograph of contestant(s)
3. One page biography spotlighting past accomplishments, hobbies and any interesting information you would like to include.

Rules and Regulations:

1. Time allotted for set-up, tear down, and performance is 7 minutes.
2. Acts must fit in the following categories: dance (one to eight performers), vocal (one to eight singers) and instrumental (one to four musicians with limited electronic needs) or novelty (one to eight performers).
3. No lip-syncing will be allowed. (Background tracks are acceptable.)
4. Contestants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
5. No dangerous objects are allowed in a performance.
6. The content of each act must be acceptable to all audiences and void of any foul language or inappropriate gestures.
7. Groups whose members pay for ongoing instruction as part of an performing arts class or academy are not eligible to enter as a unit.
8. The previous years winners are ineligible.

Upon acceptance to audition:
The Talent will be required to provide:

1. One copy of a CD (no tapes) cued for listening by the Spotlight on the RC committee must be provided prior to the audition date. One CD will be kept by the committee for future use of performances and must be of superior quality; one may be yours to keep as a back-up.
2. A drawing of the preferred stage set up including stage dimensions, location of mics, monitors, amps, etc.

The City will provide basic sound set-up/amplification.
Contestant assumes all responsibility for the quality of the sound accompaniment.
Contestants will be judged in the following categories

• Talent & Ability
• Stage Presence
• Selection of Material
• Entertainment Value
• Originality
• Capability of production at this particular talent contest facility
